Miami-Dade Police Department spokesman Álvaro Zabaleta said:
“If you recognize this man, he was the one who was arrested two weeks ago for having an intimate relationship with a 14-year-old girl.”
By then, Tolliver was embracing freedom again after posting $7,500 bail.
“Tolliver was a public school employee.
But the story of the former physical education teacher is so far far from a happy ending.
Detectives from the Miami Dade Police Department have testimony from two other 15-year-old girls who claimed they were victimized by Tolliver while he was also teaching his classes at Homestead three years ago.
“They indicated that after seeing his face in the press, they also realized that they too were victims, they had the courage to speak with their parents and to make statements,” explains Zabaleta.
For this reason, this Wednesday, Tolliver was captured again and is once again behind bars.
“He has about 30 other counts with one of the victims and another 5 counts of lewd acts against these young women,” Zabaleta says.
Investigators in the case say working at a school allowed the 37-year-old defendant to form a close relationship with the girls and then sexually abuse them.
“They think it’s possible there are more victims and that’s why parents are encouraged to talk to their daughters and look at the face of this individual and ask them if they know,” says Zabaleta.
