Heading to the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend? Here’s how to enter and move around the event.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is coming to town with an expected attendance of over 180,000. It takes place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 April.

Those attending the event or living near downtown Long Beach will find themselves with street closures starting Wednesday.

Starting Wednesday, street closures will begin in downtown Long Beach as the city prepares for the race. Those who live near the area or plan to drive should be aware of the following closures this week.

The following times are approximate and subject to change:

Wednesday April 12

The city will close the side streets of Shoreline Drive and Seaside Way that lead to the racetrack, starting at 4 a.m.

Closures of various roads in the area that will be used for the event will begin at 7 a.m. These closures include: Westbound Shoreline Drive, Northbound Queensway Bridge Off Ramp, Southbound Queensway Bridge Ramp on Shoreline Drive Ramp, and Aquarium Way south of Shoreline Drive.

Later at 3 p.m., this will mark the closure of Shoreline Drive eastbound from Broadway to Ocean Boulevard.

All vehicles must be outside the Aquarium of the Pacific parking structure by 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13. Valet parking will be available for guests dining at the beachfront restaurants. All vehicles entering from Pine Avenue will be required to exit east through the Marina Green parking lot.

Pine Avenue will remain open to traffic for visitors to the Hyatt Hotel, waterfront restaurants, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenants. Chestnut Place or Golden Shore Avenue will provide access to the Aquarium of the Pacific after closing.

Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April

Beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, access to the Hyatt, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina from Ocean Boulevard and Southbound Pine Avenue will be closed to traffic.

Access to the south side of the track will be provided at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue and will only be available to Grand Prix Pass holders and those with a Grand Prix Owner’s Permit. boat.

Pine Avenue will reopen to traffic at 7 p.m. for Hyatt, Shoreline Village and Shoreline Marina tenant access.

All other closures will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday, when it is expected to reopen to all traffic:

The two access ramps to Shoreline Drive and to the Queensway Bridge from Shoreline Drive. Traffic will reopen in both directions on Seaside Way and Pine Avenue, including Pine Avenue Circle, Shoreline Village Drive, all service roads and streets inside The Pike facility.

Parking lot

All parking is prepaid and attendees can reserve a parking space through the Acura Grand Prix box office.

All reserved parking spaces require a special parking card and the number of parking spaces is limited. All reserved parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reserved car parks open every day at 7 a.m.

Parking is sold for three days. No overnight camping will be permitted in reserved parking lots.‍

Pike Parking is located at Chestnut Avenue and Seaside Way near Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Attendees can enter Chestnut Avenue at Ocean Boulevard.

A second parking lot, Shoreline Parking, will be located west at the end of Highway 710, then right on Magnolia Street, right on Ocean Boulevard, then left on Golden Shore Avenue.

Participants can also buy parking in the city center on the website of LAZ parking lot or in town from Long Beach.

For those who wish to leave their car at home, there are several other ways to get to the race.

The official race track drop-off point for Uber/Lyft/Taxi is located on First Street between Elm Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard.

The Long Beach Grand Prix recommends the use of Long Beach Transit, Aqualink and The Passport.

Line A (formerly Blue Line) and Metrolink are also recommended modes of transportation.
