An intense police presence remains in a residential area in northwest Miami-Dade this Friday morning after a police chase took place through the streets of South Florida.
The Florida Highway Patrol said they were conducting a traffic stop on a stolen white Dodge pickup truck. The stop was attempted in the area of 103rd Street and 32nd Avenue northwest of Miami-Dade.
The van did not stop and he drove away from officers, resulting in a brief chase until the patrol car lost sight of the vehicle. The Miami-Dade police helicopter located him shortly thereafter.
He pulled over in the area of 2nd Avenue and South Biscayne River Drive and the driver fled on foot, according to FHP. A perimeter of various police departments are on the scene looking for the suspect.
In the footage from the Telemundo 51 helicopter, you can see numerous police officers with the help of dogs searching for the suspect, apparently on a chain.
