The owner of a Miami Beach liquor store opposes the measure the city commission has just approved: the closing of liquor stores at 6 p.m. to prevent scenes like this from repeating themselves during spring break .

“I lose 200,000 pesos if they shut me down this weekend,” says liquor store owner Jorge Zubigaray.

Jorge Zubigaray will file a lawsuit against the city.

“It’s the third time they’ve done this to me. Now the third time is the charm,” he says. And he maintains that there is a long distance between his business and the area where find the real problem.

Outside of my business, there is no mess. There is no one jumping on the cars. It’s on Ocean Drive,” he said.

Many thought the commission would bet on a curfew, as on previous occasions.

Commissioner Fernández will present to the committee table a proposal so that from 2024 the curfew will be extended throughout the spring holidays, while the suspension of the sale of alcohol will come into force on Thursday.
