Jordan Cashmyer, whose struggles as a young pregnant homeless mother were documented on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant,” has died, her family said.
“My beloved eldest daughter Jordan has passed away. She was only 26 years old,” read a post on her father’s Facebook page. “Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should have to experience the loss of a child, EVER.”
A spokesperson for the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Cashmyer’s death to Citizen Free Press. As of Monday, no cause of death had been made public.
Cashmyer appeared on the MTV series in 2014, alongside then-boyfriend Derek Taylor.
The show showed the couple dealing with unemployment, homelessness and family disapproval while awaiting the birth of their daughter, Genevieve “Evie” Taylor.
MTV’s verified Twitter account for the show “Teen Mom,” which is a sequel to “16 and Pregnant,” expressed its condolences.
We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Jordan Cashmyer.
Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.
