Jorge Camacho, 34, allegedly convinced the teen through social media to go with him; suspect’s alleged intentions were to use her for sex trafficking.

A Hispanic man is accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl in Texas and holding her captive in a shed in North Carolina.

Jorge Camacho, 34, allegedly convinced the teen through social media to go with him, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office revealed at a press conference Monday.

That office was contacted by the FBI’s Dallas office on Friday.

Following a traffic stop, agents from the sheriff’s office in coordination with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials arrested Camacho in Davidson County.

According to Trop Sim, owner of the home near the shed where the teenager was found in Southmont, Camacho was staying at the location and not in the main house.

Sim told authorities that Camacho was a friend of her son who let him stay in the shed since he had nowhere to stay.

“He lived with me for two years and he didn’t show that he was that kind of person, so I don’t know why he did that,” the woman stated as quoted by ABC4 WTAE.

The woman claimed to be unaware that the minor was in the space.

The girl was transported to a hospital and is now back in Texas.

It is unclear how long the man kept the young girl in the space.

Camacho, who was reportedly smiling as the judge read the charges against him in a virtual hearing Monday, was charged with rape of a girl under 15, kidnapping of a minor and human trafficking, among others.

If convicted, he faces a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of release. He is currently being held in the county jail on a $1,250,000 bond.
