‘Closed due to a family emergency’ is the notice that appeared at the famous Knaus Berry Farm in Homestead this Saturday morning.

Its owners, husbands Rachel Knaus and Hebert Grafe, were brutally beaten by their son on Friday night, a close family friend said.

“He hit her really hard, almost killing her with a flashlight,” a close family friend said.

The woman, who did not want her name published, also said the savage attack allegedly took place after Travis Grafe, 40, demanded money from his mother.

After the attack on his parents’ home, Travis reportedly fled in a golf cart to a nearby house.

The person who lives in this residence is the one who apparently alerted the authorities.

Rachael, 66, was airlifted in critical condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Her husband Hébert is also recovering from his injuries.

Grafe was taken to TGK prison, charged with attempted premeditated murder and domestic violence.

Knaus Berry Farm is a family business operated for generations since it opened in 1959.

It is famous for its traditional cinnamon rolls and is visited by locals from Florida and other parts of the country.
