The Philharmonic Orchestra of Beiras was born in 1997 and is an instrumental group belonging to the Musical Association of Beiras. It was founded by the Portuguese government as part of a national program to design a network of national orchestras. It had its first performance on December 15, 1997, under the direction of its first artistic director, Fernando Eldoroand many professionals have gone through it who have carved out an important place for themselves in the world of orchestras.
