It is not the first time that the Dukes of Sussex they go to the United Nations, but it is the first time that the prince takes the stage to speak to the audience. The emotion was evident on the faces of the prince and the duchess, who wore a minimalist look: a black dress, pumps to match and a flawless ponytail.

“Those less fortunate that we did not meet Nelson Mandela we have understood him through his legacy, the letters he wrote from his cell, the speeches he gave to his people and those amazing shirts he wore,” he said.

In addition, the prince took advantage of the occasion to remember his mother, Lady Dianaand mentioned a photograph of the princess and Mandela taken in 1997 and received as a gift from Archbishop Desmond Tutu. “She is on my wall and in my heart every day,” he assured.

“When I first saw the photo, what jumped out immediately was the happiness on my mom’s face.. Her joy, mischief even. The pleasure of being with another soul just as committed to serving humanity,” the 37-year-old prince continued.
