Florida man summons his mom to his house and kills her with a hammer and stabs

A 24-year-old man told police in Florida who lured his mother into his apartment and beat her with a hammer before fatally stabbing her, authorities said.

Logan Lopez told investigators Saturday that he had planned the murder for a year, Clearwater police said and Twitter. Officers responded to a neighbor’s 911 call around 5 pm Saturday. She told deputies that she could hear a woman screaming in a nearby apartment at The Palms at Countryside.

The police found Mary Beth López53, dead inside the apartment.

Logan Lopez told officers who arrived at the scene and then homicide detectives that he had lured his mother to his house with the purpose of “ending her”, said a press release. Logan lopez he was booked into the Pinellas County Jail early Sunday. He faces a first-degree murder charge.

The police said that although López he had no criminal history, having previously been involuntarily held for mental health treatment under Florida’s Baker Act.
