Emilio Lozoya stays in the North Prison, judge dictates preventive detention

This Wednesday Emiliio Lozoya appeared at the North Prison to appear, as the extension granted by the FGR to his defense was about to expire so that he could “provide evidence on the alleged acts of corruption that were committed during the administration of Enrique Peña Nieto in relation to the case of Odebrecht,” says Expansion.

Lozoya, director of the state oil company during the Government of Enrique Peña Nieto, specifically from 2012 to 2016, was captured last year in Spain and extradited to Mexico, where he closed an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office in force until today for which he accused other politicians in exchange for not stepping on jail.

On the other hand it transpired that unlike his son, Gilda Austin de Lozoya, mom of Emilio, will face her process in freedom, as determined by the judge, taking into account her age, 73 years.

Gilda Austin had also been linked to proceedings for the crimes of money laundering and criminal association, after it was detected that in one of her bank accounts she had received more than $ 185,000, allegedly as payment of bribes by the Brazilian company Odebrecht.

Gilda was imprisoned in a jail in Germany after her arrest in 2019 while on vacation with her grandchildren on the German island of Juist.
