Depeche Mode fans are celebrating as they can now enjoy the band’s new musical project. The British electronic music group released their new album on Friday March 25 Memento Moria project that was forged during the months of confinement due to Covid-19 and that plunges into the most languorous depths, when it comes to death and life itself.
A few months ago, we were already able to enjoy a smallpreview of one of the songs that would compose this new album, Ghosts againgiving us a little pill of this single on their social networks, in which we could already appreciate the dark sound that this new project was going to lead to.
Deep reflections with existential questions were the theme that was reflected in the new music of this electronic music group, which could well reflect the personal and professional moment they are going through. Recall that Depeche Mode lost one of the group’s founding members last May, Andew Fletcher, who died at the age of 60. From now on, the duo approach the future with serenity and with 12 songs about death with which they hope to drive the public once again crazy.
“First we get up, then we fall, we have to move forward before we drown” is a meaningful phrase that undoubtedly marks a new era for the British group. A phrase you can find in Before we drownone of the darkest songs on the album.
This new project is loaded with shadows and it is that they were inspired by the pandemic crisis of 2020, where the news always revolved around mortality. Something that takes on even more meaning when they lost their friend and confidant two years later, which is why they ended up taking the step of sketching this new album to release it on the market and share it with all their fans.
In fact, some of the songs from the new album have already been incorporated into the world tour they recently embarked on which will take them directly to Spain participating in the His Primaverain Madrid and Barcelona, two very special events that will take place in the coming months.
