NEW JERSEY — New Jersey-based DeCamp Bus Lines will suspend services to and from New York City beginning April 7 after failing to return to pre-pandemic ridership levels.
“As we pass three years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, DeCamp Bus Lines has struggled to bring commuters back as working from home, remote working and flexible hours have dramatically reduced travel costs. daily newspapers in New York,” the company said in a customer review. “Despite our best efforts, monthly ridership is averaging 20% or less of pre-COVID levels.”

Although the company experienced a sharp reduction in ridership, it was able to maintain transportation services “thanks to various federal and state financial assistance programs,” DeCamp said.
“But without more assistance on the horizon, the economic losses from continued commuter service operations are too much to bear.”
In its review, the company went on to express its “sincere gratitude for the continued (customer) support over the years.”
DeCamp is the oldest privately owned and operated bus company in the state of New Jersey, according to the company’s website.
