NEW YORK — A checkout process at a Bronx supermarket took a violent turn on Sunday, when a cashier was attacked by several women at her checkout, all of whom were captured on video.

The fight took place around 1:30 p.m. at a Food Universe supermarket located at 312 East 194th Street in the Fordham section of the county.

Footage from the scene that undoubtedly causes consternation and which until Tuesday left the victim very scared, supermarket workers told Telemundo 47.

CCTV footage shows a woman running towards the victim, then punching her repeatedly.

Other employees and even customers immediately tried to break up the fight, but other women also attacked the cashier, even pulling her hair and punching her in the face.

“It’s abusive,” said Ronny Ríos, a customer at the supermarket. “They’ve already gone over the excess because they can’t do that. They (the workers) always behave well.

The supermarket owner and member of the Action Collective for the Protection of Shops, said many workers like his store’s brave cashier have been assaulted and it’s too much.

The suspects are described as women in their 40s and 50s.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
