Aurora Firefighters (AFR) responded Wednesday morning to a house fire in the 2000 block of South Paris Way.
The home’s location is close to South Peoria Street and East Jewell Ave in the Village East neighborhood of Aurora.
The fire department said on Twitter that they were notified of the fire around 12:30 a.m., Wednesday.
A 6-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters and transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to AFR.
Just before 4 a.m., AFR reported that the fire was under control. Four residents were displaced from the townhouse. The fire did not significantly affect adjacent units, according to AFR.
The fire was brought under control at approximately 4 a.m., four residents had to leave their homes, and structures in adjacent units were not significantly affected, according to Aurora firefighters. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
