Since last Friday, we haven’t stopped hearing about Bellodramathe second disc of Ana Mena and the first in five years. A work which comes to consecrate her as the great pop diva that she is and which will mark a turning point in her long career.
Aware of the importance of this moment in his life, we did not want to miss his release. Ana agreed to share with us the hours leading up to this very special moment for her. Hours when there was a lot of work, a lot of nervousness and above all a lot of emotion. She became the new protagonist of the series LOS40 countdown and we can only thank you for having opened the doors of your most intimate world with this closeness and this familiarity which captivated us.
“It’s that I I consider myself a very normal girl, Really. A girl who loves music, a girl who considers herself very honest, very impulsive. Many times I’m very stubborn, ambitious, a bit of a disaster, sometimes with a lot of things, messy, but I have always considered myself a very responsible girl, not with her obligations, but with her goals. I’ve always been aware that things are accomplished by working hard”, he confides to us. And we were able to verify it.
Childhood and beginnings
She is only 25 years old, but we can already speak of a long career in her case because she started when she was just a girl. He travels through Andalusia taking part in singing competitions. At that time, he was singing copla. His family has always been his great support..
I’ve always been aware that things are achieved by hard work, a value that was instilled in him at home. “My first musical memories always take me back to my mother because she sang flamenco when she was my age or even younger,” she recalls, “I remember saying to her, ‘Mom, I want to sing’. And I remember my mother saying to me ‘you are crazy, what are you going to sing? You are crazy, what are you telling me?’ “.
But she already says it, she is stubborn and has not given up on her efforts. “It’s a very curious thing, because I always imagined myself singing pop. Even though I started to sing flamenco. I always imagined myself wearing a bodysuit or with high heeled boots and a fan, standing on a stage with huge choreographies and with dancers, I always imagined myself like that in a certain way”, admits – she and she was not mistaken, and there were her parents to encourage her and give her all their support.
“My parents, the truth is they’ve always been too supportive of me. Now I think about it and say ‘by God, they’ve won heaven’ because My father used to get up at seven in the morning to go to work, to work. I haven’t slept all night. It was almost more expensive for him to take me on than what they gave me later to sing, which they always kept for me in a checking account and they never played anything, ever, ever anything. I I have the most honest parents in the world. And that was a big part of my childhood“, he admits, valuing his parents.
Then came the papals in the miniseries of Marisol French The skin I inhabit of Pedro Almodovar. There were also musical competitions such as I see I see oh my rock camp. And always the music in the foreground.
“I think what I’m most proud of is that we knew how to reinvent ourselves and accept any situation and get to her. It was like going through all the screens of a video game,” he says of the path he had to travel.
Throw of Bellodrama
A path that has taken you to Bellodrama, the album that will change everything. The first came in full bloom Operation Triumph 2017 and there was little room left for artists who had not come out of talent. For that decided to turn to Europe and settled on Italy.
He got there without support and, little by little, he worked his way up to reach number 1 in sales. And this support in Italy is what was missing in Spain, but this has also started to change thanks to topics such as light music.
“I would like to be an artist, that people consider that they are free and that he always does what is born to him, with this credibility to do what is born to him. And that’s what we projected in this Bellodrama,” he shares.
“For me it’s the record of my dreams, it’s the record I’ve always dreamed of making for real, I’m telling you for real and I hope to have the same feeling with all the records that I do now, because It is a feeling of being sure of the work that has been done and which gives you much, much peace.“, Add.
Now is the time to share it and he started doing it at midnight last Friday during a party surrounded by friends and collaborators. We saw how she was preparing for this moment when she was going to be the real protagonist and we are living the countdown to this release which begins a new stage for her which has already led her to experience her first record signing in six years.
