“Am I going to die?”: The 11-year-old girl who fought and prevented her kidnapping in Florida is pronounced

An 11-year-old girl who fought and managed to flee from a kidnapper while waiting for the school bus in Escambia County (in northwest Florida, USA), recounted for the first time her traumatic experience and what crossed her mind.

“Will I die today? Will I be able to live the rest of my life?” were the questions the little girl Alyssa Bonal asked herself while Jared Paul Stanga, 30, was trying to kidnap her, as reported by “Univision”.

A video from the security cameras in the area shows the girl who managed to free herself from the man and run.

“She fought like a soldier, and one of these days I’ll give her an award for fighting and fighting and fighting.” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons told the media a few days ago. The minor even had time to collect her backpack and belongings and continue running.

The authorities indicated that the incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, May 18, when the man, who had been prowling this open area, got out of a white vehicle and chased the minor.

Sheriff Simmons said the man had approached the girl once before, about two weeks ago, while she was waiting at the bus stop.

Authorities explained that the man returned to his vehicle, a Dodge Journey, after the failed hijacking and fled.

The girl, who lives about a hundred meters from the bus stop, was unharmed and is safe with her parents. “If she had lost it yesterday, the chances of getting her back would have been very slim. She was about to be kidnapped.” Said the mother of Alyssa.

A determining factor that aided in the capture of the man was the dexterity of Alyssa. The minor used a tactic to leave evidence of the crime, which she learned while watching the crime series Law & Order.

The tactic the girl used was to leave some evidence, in this case “slime” (A colorful slimy mass and children’s fashion toy) colored blue on the body of Jared Paul Stanga.

”I knew that might be a better test if the police found him,” said the girl, identified only by her first name, Alyssa, to the NBC channel, which broadcasts the series.

The authorities indicated that the man detained a few hours after the incident still had “slime” blue on the arm.

Jared Paul Stanga, 30, faces charges of attempted kidnapping of a minor and aggravated assault.
