A grandmother was shot dead while standing on the balcony of her Delray Beach apartment on Tuesday.
The incident happened at the Village Square condominium, located on Auburn Avenue just east of the I-95 freeway, as reported by WPTV-TV, an affiliate of Telemundo 51’s sister channel NBC. .
Paramedics found the 77-year-old, identified by her grandson as Anne Pierre Louis, and took her to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Police say Louis was an innocent person in the shooting.
“My aunt was outside with her, she came in and grabbed something,” said Stevenson Louis, the victim’s grandson. “I heard he ran into the house (and noticed he was shot) and that’s when they called the police I guess.”
No arrests related to this case have been reported.
“It is unusual that a 77-year-old woman sitting alone on her balcony could be shot in broad daylight,” Delray Beach Fire Department spokesman Dani Moschella said. “It’s a mystery at the moment”
Louis’ grandson said he didn’t know why anyone would shoot his grandmother.
“Come out and say something if you know something,” he said. “Better get them off the street before somebody else gets shot.”
