FLAGGER COUNTY, Florida. – A 10-year-old student was arrested by the Flager County Sheriff’s Office for carrying a weapon

Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies arrested a 10-year-old student carrying an airsoft gun. Look real, Wadsworth Elementary School and show it off to your classmates.

Vice-Principal Chris Tincher saw the student show off the gun to friends in the cafeteria before school started. The weapon had caused a stir among classmates who wanted to see it.

Tincher quickly took the student to the principal’s office where they searched his backpack and found the gun.

He was later arrested by the FCSO School Resource Assistant, who is assigned to Wadsworth Elementary School.

The student was transported to Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Center for processing. The student is already with his parents.

“This situation could have ended much worse. Luckily the deputy chief was alert and took action before anyone was hurt,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.

“We don’t like arresting children, but there is zero tolerance for guns and threats on school campuses. It also amazes me that a child thinks it’s good or cool to bring a toy gun to school that looks like a real gun and show it off to other students. Parents, again, I implore you to be the authorities in your home. Talk to your children and know what they are doing and what they are playing with before we have to be ushers for your child.”
