Steps U.S. citizens must follow to apply for special ETIAS visa for travel to the European Union starting in 2024.

Authorities recommend that potential travelers check the Council of Europe’s website if they have doubts about whether their travel documents will allow them to cross the borders of the European countries that will require ETIAS

Aside from the ETIAS visa that U.S. citizens must apply for starting in 2024 to enter European Union countries, foreigners must present a valid travel document such as their passport.

“Your travel document must not expire in less than three months and must not be more than 10 years old…,” it is explained from the website travel-europe.europa.eu/ where you apply for the special permit.

According to the page, a travel document that does not meet international standards will be rejected during the online application process.

Authorities recommend that potential travelers check the Council of Europe’s website if they have doubts about whether their travel documents will allow them to cross the borders of European countries that will require ETIAS.

“Specific requirements apply to travel documents issued by some countries and special administrative regions, entities and territorial authorities that are not recognized as a state by at least one European country requiring ETIAS. These requirements have an impact on whether holders of these travel documents are required to present an ETIAS or to apply for a visa to enter some of these European countries,” the page states.

At the time of processing, there are several pieces of information you will need to provide through the ETIAS system.

Below is the list:

– Personal information including, first and last name; date and place of birth, nationality, residential address, your parents’ names, e-mail address and telephone number.

– Details of your travel document

– Details of your level of education and occupation.

– Details of your intended travel and stay in any of the countries requiring ETIAS

– Details of criminal convictions; previous travel to war or conflict zones; and whether you have recently been subject to a decision requiring you to leave the territory of any country.

After entering this information, you must declare that the data and declarations are correct. In addition, you must confirm that you understand the new conditions of entry to the European Union.

If another person is submitting the information on your behalf, the user must provide his or her first and last name; the name and contact details of the organization or firm (if applicable); as well as information on that person’s relationship to you and confirmation that the person and you signed the declaration of representation.

In the case of minors under the age of 18, the application must be submitted by a person exercising parental authority or legal guardianship on a permanent or temporary basis.

You will need an electronic card to cover the fee of Є7 euros, equivalent to about $7.79 dollars for the procedure.

Applicants under 18 years of age or over 70 years of age are exempt from the fee. Relatives of European Union citizens or non-EU nationals who have the right to move freely within the region will also not have to pay the procedure fee.
