Wildcard, an esports-focused arena-style PvP game, has released information about its upcoming NFT edition and game show set to roll out in the coming months.
Wildcard, an in-development PvP, Arena, and eSports game, has announced an upcoming game showcase and NFT mint for its Genesis Collection!
On February 23, Wildcard will host a special game showcase to showcase its game and launch a marketing campaign.
Dubbed Melee on the Meteor, this showcase show will feature multiple matches. The first round is a best-of-three match between two of the best players in the community. In the second game, two web3 streamers will compete against each other. And then in the final round, the winners of the first two rounds face off in a final battle for the ultimate champion! And as part of the game, everyone who broadcasts the event appears as avatars in the crowd!
This is an interesting way to open a preview of the game while controlling access. And since they have integrated this eSports arena functionality directly into the game, it is also a great way to test this functionality! It will be open viewing for everyone, although the game may feature a ticketing system for larger events as popularity grows.
We don’t know much about the game. But seemingly part deck builder, part twitch play, part auto-combat, part tower defense, Wildcard seems to have the potential for a very interesting game.
To participate in Wildcard playtesting, players must be on the allow list. Wildcard has built a system around a Discord role called Collector. Players can develop their collector status, earning various rewards and bonuses along the way. Collector status relates to a pin collection system. Participate in various Wildcard social media events to earn pins and improve your status. If you want to be a part of this system, you need to head over to Discord and tune in ASAP (even though I keep getting started on their server for some reason).

The Wildcard team also revealed some details about their first strike, which will take place at the end of March. This mint will be for card packs containing NFTs for use in the game. The currency will be on the Polygon blockchain.
This first mint will be considered the Genesis collection. Specific creatures with their specific art will no longer be available. Twelve creature summons are available in six rarity variants. Wild is the rarest of the rarities. These are single cards, 1/1. Rarities will provide various out-of-game bonuses, but will have no in-game effect. The Wildcard team says they still have 50 creature summons in various stages of design and development that will be released in later sets.
This first edition will be a limited collection. Details on supplies and pricing have yet to be revealed. There will also likely be early access to the Royal Mint for those in the collector role.

Wildcard is a PvP esports game. The game is about building a deck of cards, then using them in a real-time arena to summon allies as your team attempts to destroy your opponent’s goal. Players must actively play their champion in the game, while using their cards to their best advantage.
