Transformers: Devastation was supposed to be a big comeback of the famous classic animation IP. The game created by Platinum Games was loved by the fans. But suddenly it completely disappeared from sale.

Sometimes a business decision can generate thousands of developer hours.. A perfect example of this is the Platinum Games studio and one of its games, Transformers: Devastation. The game that returned to the roots and, in the eyes of fans, lifted the franchise to new heights. The story was explained in detail in a video from the GameStories channel.

Transformers: Havoc released in 2015 and immediately won the hearts of fans, as evidenced by the ratings on Metacritic. Cell-shaded graphics reminiscent of 80s animation and Platinum Games’ trademark dynamic combat system made Transformers: Havoc a worthy representative of the popular universe.

However, two years after its release, the game literally disappeared from all distribution channels, overnight.. Fans were confused, and those who had postponed the purchase suddenly missed the opportunity. The reason turned out to be prosaic, unrelated to Platinum Games and the game’s sales. Hasbro, owner of the intellectual property rights, has not renewed its contract with Activision.

The end of licenses meant that not only Transformers: Havocbut also games, like Transformers: War for Cybertron there Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, had to disappear from sale. The worst part of this story, however, was the message provided by Hasbro itself. At this time, the company is not interested in licensing transformers to any game developer. This means that older games will no longer appear in official sales, while new games will not be developed.
