Joker: Madness for Two took his first look at Lady Gaga as harley quinn. As the DCEU draws to a close and the DC Universe soars, Warner Bros. Discovery continues to focus on its “Elseworlds” properties.
The Joker franchise, which takes place outside of DC’s main cinematic continuity, is moving forward with a sequel currently in the works. With Joaquin Phoenix as DC’s titular foe, Joker: Madness Two will continue to explore the life of Arthur Fleck.
Todd Phillips, director of Joker (2019), returns for the second installment, which will be released in theaters in 2024. Filming officially began in December 2022 and is expected to last a few more months.
One of the most anticipated elements of Joker: Folie à Deux is the introduction of “the new” Harley Quinn, with the famous Lady Gaga as the iconic villain.
Yesterday, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, Phillips shared a first look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux. In the photo, she is seen facing the Phoenix Joker, presumably somewhere in Arkham Asylum.
Since Gaga’s Harley is an Elseworlds version of the DC icon, there will obviously be comparisons to Margot Robbie’s version in the DCEU. So far, Warner Bros. Pictures kept many story details under wraps, including Gaga’s Harley.
Unlike the first film, Joker: Folie à Deux will be a musical and psychological adventure. The popular theory is that the title Joker: Folie à Deux, which refers to a mental disorder, will serve as the cause for the music. Based on the translation of the title, it’s possible that the film largely takes place from Harley’s point of view.
