After months of teasing from the Overwatch 2 team, we now know all the details about Brigitte’s ultimate overhaul as part of the balance changes in Overwatch 2 Season 4. Although she’s always had fans , Brigitte has often been considered one of the worst choices. for support heroes in Blizzard’s free PC game, and struggled to hold on to our Overwatch 2 tier list, especially with the rise of high-performing mobile supports like Kiriko.
Fortunately, Blizzard is well aware of its shortcomings and has made a number of changes to its kit as part of its continued focus on supports since the sequel’s release. More recently, Overwatch 2’s Season 3 Balance Patch added some self-sufficiency to its repair package and a 10% reduction in its final cost to replenish it, but this ultimate overhaul is the icing on a cake. solid and very promising.
So, let’s do a little recap. Prior to the changes, Brigitte’s Rally ultimate gave her a movement speed buff and applied Shock to herself and nearby allies over time, providing a maximum of 100 Shock in addition to her existing 150 Health and 50 Armor . These effects remain in place for the most part, with the crucial difference being that the Overhealth applied to Brigitte is now Armor. This armor is also applied all at once, instead of the incremental OverHealth application I used to rely on, making Brigitte immensely more robust in decisive moments.
One of Brigitte’s most notorious nerfs is the removal of the stun from her Shield Bash. This decision is reminiscent of the many changes Overwatch 2 implemented to reduce the effects of crowd control. Some heroes, like Cassidy, have adapted to the changes to their gear, but it’s left our brave squire with no room to breathe. Well, Brigitte rejoices: the stun effect on Shield Bash has returned as part of Brigitte’s ultimate revamp.
Finally, Brigitte’s barrier shield increases in size for the duration of her ultimate, changing from a vertical rectangle to a horizontal rectangle that strongly resembles Reinhardt’s own shield. She also received a 300 to 750 boost, making it more viable to maintain a line of defense with Brigitte on Overwatch 2 maps.
There’s no doubt that this ultimate overhaul will set the hearts of Brigitte fans on fire, but the changes to her kit are low-key enough to leave her well-rounded rather than blatant. Rally’s ten-second duration stays in place, so unless you have lightning-fast fingers, you’ll probably only be able to use Shield Bash’s stun once per ult the vast majority of the time.
