The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops are closing today, meaning this will be the last we’ll see of the shop’s little tote mascot.
After its announcement last year, the day has finally come for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U eShop to shut down. game preservation and the fact that 75% of Pokemon games will be gone, as Nintendo currently has no plans to save these 3DS and Wii U exclusive titles.
One overlooked part of the store closures, however, is the fact that we won’t be able to see the cute little shopping bag mascot greeting customers on older Nintendo eShops anymore, and we’re not the only ones who think so. Several Twitter users also shared their sadness (as well as joking) over the passing of the little orange mascot.
The Wii U and 3DS eShop closes tomorrow. Which means this guy is going to die!” One user wrote along with a photo of our orange boyfriend. “Last day of Nintendo eShop for 3DS and Wii U…” another user shared images of the shopping bag waving at other Nintendo mascots like Nikki from Swapnote.

The best goodbye we’ve seen so far, however, comes from Twitter user @ScottofAstora, who shared this scene from Toy Story 3 where Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang greet Andy near the end of the film. , except that in Instead of Andy, he is the mascot for the 3DS, Wii U, and eShop.
However, there is good news to get out of this situation. While unrelated to the eShop mascot, another iconic part of handheld history is being reborn in the form of a Nintendo 3DS global meet that aims to keep StreetPass alive. . From March 31 through April 2, StreetPass Revival 2023 will see 3DS users congregating in various locations to once again enjoy one of the console’s best features.
