The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has unveiled its first full gameplay trailer.

With just under two months to go until launch, Nintendo finally lifted the curtain on new gameplay details for Tears of the Kingdom today. You can watch the game’s full walkthrough with series producer Eiji Aonuma just below, in which the host demonstrated Link going from the ground in Hyrule to the islands, which Nintendo dubbed “Sky Islands.”

Link soars into the air with a power called “recovery”, which reverses time, throwing fallen objects into the sky with our hero on them. There are actually many ways to get to the islands, Aonuma joked, but he didn’t elaborate on the route.

Aonuma also demonstrated Link’s new abilities, such as the ability to join two objects together to form a new weapon. For example, it turns out our hero can construct a new weapon by aligning a stick and a rock, effectively shrinking the rock to fit on top of the stick.

This is the first time Nintendo has taken Tears of the Kingdom fans on an in-depth tour of new gameplay details. So far we’ve only had gameplay clips interspersed with cutscenes to go on, which is where we first saw footage of Link driving vehicles in the Breath of the Wild sequel.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally releasing on May 12, 2023. It was recently reported that Tears of the Kingdom pre-orders are overtaking Breath of the Wild at least in Japan, a really strong sign for the sequel. preparation for the launch.
