There’s a saying that money makes any world go round, and the world of Octopath Traveler 2 is no exception. With the game just released, players all over the world are rushing to level up and get resources on their first saves. Blades, the in-game currency, are hard to acquire when you’re new to the game. Managing your resources in the early game is key to buying all the items you need, but don’t worry, you’ll be able to get enough of leaves if you know where to look. This is how you can easily get money in Octopath Traveler 2.

As a general rule, be sure to open any chests you see, as some of them may contain gold dust, which fetches a high price in shops.
If you like the old way of defeating rare enemies for extra loot, hunting Octopuffs is the way to go, though it depends on spawn and luck. These particular enemies drop a large amount of leaves, making them a great way to earn some cash. However, since they don’t have fixed spawns, players will need to increase their spawn rates by using Octopuff Pots and defeat them before they have a chance to escape.
The best and easiest way to earn money is to hire a trader through Partitio’s “Recruit” path action. Specifically, one that increases the number of leaves you earn from selling items. It’s little effort and a good investment for the future. It is advisable to review all available NPCs with the “Recruit” option each time you enter a new town, as merchants may be hidden in plain sight. That being said, selling items will earn you a nice sum of blades, as many in-game items have been included for sale only. You will be able to check the amount of money you can sell the item for by the text “find price X” in the item description. If you are unable to hire a trader and desperately need licenses, sell a small number of items first and save the remaining items for when you have hired a trader, because the difference of only one trader makes on your income, especially when selling in bulk, it’s immense.
Speaking of merchants, they can learn the support skill “Grows on trees”, which allows them to earn more money after a battle, although they will need to learn 4 professional skills first. Partitio is the first trader available in the game, and his Gather job skill will be invaluable in your gameplay, as it allows you to pick enemies’ blades, and his success rate increases when the enemy is low on HP.
