Developer Paradox has detailed the Stellaris 3.7.4 patch, which is now live and brings some welcome tweaks and improvements to the grand space strategy game following the arrival of the Stellaris First Contact DLC earlier this month. Among the changes are some major tweaks to one of the origins added with the DLC, revenge, and the ability for civilizations to be nearby when a nuclear war threatens to break out.

Vengeance Origin is one of three introduced with the expansion and sees you start out on a planet that has managed to stop a hostile empire’s invasion efforts, though it’s still waiting for you. The new update changes various aspects of this origin to adjust the behavior of collectors and the MSI, and should make the origin a little smoother. The MSI also benefits from additional naval capabilities and new early technologies, making them a bit stronger overall.

There is now a chance that pre-FTl civilizations will find themselves in a “close” situation when the threat of nuclear war erupts is imminent. Starbase Reactors are getting a nice 15% power buff, which should help upgraded Citadels use more weapon slots. Meanwhile, Hive-Minds that have Stargazers and Cordyceptic Drones now start with three Reanimated Amoebas.

There are also a variety of bugfixes, such as the “Starbase Sabotage” option not destroying components and the Solarpunk Society remaining neutral after being attacked. Penalties will no longer be applied to happiness based on standard of living unemployment, which will now be determined by job layers. The AI will also correctly create clone pools to keep your colonies alive if you control a clone army, which is probably better.
