Star Wars Outlaws: release date, trailers and everything we know
During the Xbox Summer Games Fest 2023 the new Star Wars Outlaws title was unveiled. And these are all the details we have about this new title.
Swedish video game developer Massive Entertainment has taken over Ubisoft’s Star Wars open-world title. The studio initially announced its development in early 2021 and finally Star Wars Outlaws has entered its playtesting period.
And it is that after the resounding success of Star Wars Jedi the community is very attentive to everything that has to offer us this new installment of the Star Wars universe.
Does Star Wars Outlaws have a release date?
At the time of writing, Star Wars Outlaws only has a release date of 2024. As soon as they confirm when it will be released, we will update the article. Stay tuned!
On which platforms will it be available?
Star Wars Outlaws will be released on Xbox X|S Series, PlayStation 5 and PC. However, it is unclear if the title will be available on Xbox Game Pass from launch day.
Star Wars Outlaws Trailer
The official trailer was released during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 event on June 11, 2023.
In parallel, during the Ubisoft Showcase on June 12, we were shown a 10-minute video with the gameplay of the game. Through it we can get an idea of what to expect in the next title.
Similarly, at the San Diego Comic-Con, Ubisoft unveiled a behind-the-scenes trailer for Star Wars Outlaws that shows us the creation of the game. This time it lasts 6 minutes and offers more information about the title’s characters and the planets we will be able to explore.
Star Wars Outlaws Story Details
The historical moment in which Star Wars Outlaws takes place is between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The trailer shows players taking control of protagonist Kay Vess and her Axolotl companion named Nix.
Throughout our adventure we will meet new characters such as Jaylen who is inspired by Han Solo as well as familiar faces such as the Rancor and the IG-11 combat droid.
“We are excited to deliver the first truly open-world Star Wars game, with an action-adventure story filled with both new and familiar characters and planets from across the galaxy,” explained Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games.
What do we know about the gameplay of the game?
The 2023 Ubisoft Forward Showcase showed about 10 minutes of gameplay of the game. The video showed Kay Vess in close-up while dodging bounty hunters at full speed. Star Wars Outlaws will also feature space combat and will have stealth gameplay moments.
The developers also unveiled the ability to choose different dialogue options, “giving the player the opportunity to choose their path.” For example, we can increase or decrease our reputation with certain factions.
