Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is EA’s second unique release of the year for the current generation, following last month’s well-received Dead Space remake. Both titles are clearly pushing new technology, then, and the team behind the STAR WARS sequel Jedi: Fallen Order went into more detail about their reasoning for ditching last-gen consoles.
Respawn Entertainment’s Stig Asmussen recently sat down with PLAY Magazine to discuss the upcoming title. Here’s what the developer had to say about its next-gen ambitions:
“Put simply, we quickly learned that we could take advantage of faster processors, larger/faster memory, better load times, etc., to create much larger maps, with more detail. , higher density, greater enemy/NPC variety and general loyalty.
We didn’t want to break what we did in the first game because it was well received, but we wanted to evolve/improve the experience.
This next-gen allowed us to do just that, and I think that translates into a true next-gen experience in the Star Wars universe.”
We’re certainly happy on our part that Survivor is going the current-gen route. We are already in the third year of these consoles on the market and we want, to be honest, to offer them more appropriate next-gen experiences!
Late last month, Respawn also announced that the team would be taking a bit more time to polish their next Star Wars adventure. The game’s new release date is already set for April 28 en Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
