Uff, 2022 doesn’t start with any particularly good news. Stalker 2 (actually Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, but it’s really exhausting to keep typing these dots) should originally be released on April 28 of 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X, but unfortunately nothing will come of it. As the developers recently communicated, the release will be postponed by a full seven months.

When will Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl be released?

The new release date is December 8th, 2022, so basically the last chance to be relevant for the Christmas business of the current year. Until then there should of course be various updates, trailers and general info beats so that you can stay up to date in some way.

Why is Stalker 2 being postponed?

The GSC Game World team does not go into great detail as to why Stalker 2 should be postponed by so many months, but they already give one reason: Otherwise the game will not be finished. At least not according to the standards that the developers want to apply to their project themselves. In the tweet it says:

We have decided to postpone the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl to December 8th, 2022. These additional seven months are necessary in order to live up to our vision of the game and to achieve the state of production we are aiming for.

Stalker 2 is the biggest project our team has ever had to tackle, and it requires thorough testing and tweaking. We believe that developing a game like this should take as long as it needs to take. This decision is not easy for us and we do our best to deliver a game that lives up to your expectations.

Only recently there have been plenty of discussions about planned NFTs in the game, which have been removed after much criticism. All previous information about Stalker 2 can be found in our large overview. And take a look at the trailer, because it gives a good overview of why the shooter could be really, really good.

As soon as there is new information about the release, we will of course keep you up to date. How do you feel about the shift? Right decision? Or is that spoiling your anticipation? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments.
