Smalland and Grounded are apparently very similar games. How do they differ? How are they similar? And which one is best for you? Learn more about it here.
Smalland arrived on Steam on March 20, 2023 and is currently in Early Access, where the developers say it will remain for a period of 6-12 months. The game is very popular and is often compared to Grounded. We wanted to highlight the similarities and differences between these two.
What are the similarities?
Landed up and down
- Chart – although Smalland puts a little more emphasis on realism in terms of graphics, both games are characterized by a very colorful universe and character models that are somewhat reminiscent of Pixar films.
- enemies – in both Smalland and Grounded, they will fight against giant bugs. In Grounded, the size difference is much bigger than in Smalland, but the concept remains the same.
- Survival – both games focus on survival. This means that games offer crafting systems or the ability to build shelter.
- multiplayer – Grounded and Small both allow online play, and in both cases this game mode makes the game more diverse and therefore more enjoyable. However, if you prefer to play alone, you can also play both.
What are the differences?
- interactions with insects – In Grounded, large bugs are very dangerous and pose a threat to the player. At Smalland, we also fight against them, but here, we can also try to tame some of themfor example, to use them as mounts.
- Climate – in Smalland, weather conditions play an important role as they affect the survivability aspect. At night, the temperature drops and the player must find a way to stay warm.. There are also storms, which force us to take shelter.
- History – in Grounded, our character has been shrunk by a certain scientist and must learn to survive in a new and dangerous environment. In the case of Smalland, our character is not a human, but an elf-like creature whose task is to find a cure for its queen.
- Platforms – Smalland is currently in early access and is PC exclusive. Grounded, on the other hand, is available for PC, Xbox X&S, and Xbox One.
Which one to choose ?
If you want a more polished production and play on Xbox, Grounded will be the natural choice. Smalland, on the other hand, may appeal to people who care more about exploration, shelter building, and survival aspects.
