The Sims 4 Growing Together pack launched yesterday and fans were so excited to play the family-focused expansion that they may have inadvertently broken the EA app, causing the game to temporarily shut down. gaming’s largest dedicated subreddit.
On March 16, Maxis released The Sims 4 Growing Together Pack, which introduced several new features to the life simulation, all related to raising a family. There’s been a lot of excitement surrounding this expansion since it was revealed last month, but EA probably didn’t foresee how much, as EA’s app crashed twice this week after the release of a Sims 4 update.
The most recent example of this happened shortly after the Growing Together update was released, but thankfully EA has started rolling out a patch (opens in a new tab) fairly quickly. It seems that players have encountered various issues that have prevented them from playing the latest expansion, either because they can’t log into the EA app (which players use to download new updates for The Sims ), or because their entire library of games temporarily disappeared. . .

The panic surrounding the Growing Together pack even caused moderators on the r/Sims subreddit to make the community private for a brief period, as it was full of players sharing their issues with the EA app and moderators couldn’t keep up. . . The subreddit has since gone public again, but wow, was that chaotic for a minute.

It’s not even the first time the Simmers have had this problem this week. On March 14, EA released an update to The Sims 4 base game that introduced a new life stage for The Sims (although it’s apparently “tarnished” for those who don’t have the Grow Together Pack ) and several new body customization options for them too.
This free update also caused the EA app to malfunction, preventing several people from logging into the platform and downloading the update, and resulted in some very appropriate memes.
