Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition finally arrived on Xbox Game Pass yesterday, having been leaked as an upcoming addition to the service a few weeks earlier. While the game’s new title suggests that Flying Wild Hog’s FPS has been improved (it’s now listed as “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S”), early user reports suggest it’s not actually the best. case on Xbox Series.
Several users of Microsoft’s Xbox Series S system have complained on Twitter that the Shadow Warrior 3 remake is actually worse than the previous edition. While reports of a 30FPS “ceiling” don’t appear to be true, it certainly doesn’t appear to be hitting 60FPS as consistently as many had hoped.
Expect. Are you telling me that Shadow Warrior 3 ran at 60fps on Xbox Series S and Definitive Edition at 30? What Definitive Edition joke is this? This is a downgrade, not an upgrade. Cardinal Copium (@xThundersn0w) February 17, 2023
Shadow Warrior 3 needs a patch for Xbox Series S because before it was running at 60fps and now it’s not… And the console is capable.— Marvin (@MarvinhoEterno) February 17, 2023
You really messed up the Xbox Series S version! It ran at a very solid 60, now it’s only capped at 30 FPS. Please correct this, the game was already perfect at 60fps, performance is the priority! Edsnin (@Edsnin3991) February 17, 2023
The console subreddit is also starting to receive complaints, as Shadow Warrior 3 players try to figure out why the Definitive Edition isn’t performing as well as expected.
Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition is torture on Xbox Series S by XboxSeriesS
Shadow Warrior 3 Definitive Edition is a downgrade on this XboxSeriesS console
We can’t verify these results ourselves as we haven’t played the game on Xbox Series S yet, but based on Fuzion Xbox testing, it looks like Definitive Edition is using an unlocked frame rate on the console which bounces from 30FPS. at 45FPS for the most part. Many reports repeatedly point out that the previous version ran at 60 FPS on the Series S, before the team “scaled” it for current-gen consoles.
This kind of ordeal is becoming a trend with the Xbox Series S, and we’ll have to wait and see if the team patches the game post-launch, as they often do. This week, Shadow Warrior 3 joins EA’s Wild Hearts as a title that doesn’t seem to have been optimized as well as we’d like for the Xbox Series S.
