A new report has claimed that Sony is working on the ps5 professional, with a 2024 release date for the updated console. The new system is reportedly part of a plan to phase out the current PS5 console, which will be replaced by a new model with a removable drive, while the Pro will feature a number of key improvements.

But if a PS5 Pro was released, would you be interested in buying it? Let us know in the comments below.

Our opinion

Listen, we’re a PlayStation site — Of course we’re going to buy a PS5 Pro no matter what it offers. That said, it should offer some pretty decent specs for us to be impressed, given the high price tag of Sony’s recently released hardware.

Apparently enhanced ray tracing is in the cards, but we’re not expecting a similar jump to what we’ve seen from PS4 to PS4 Pro here. The PS5 is already a very successful piece of kit and it’s by no means obsolete, so if the PS5 Pro is due to launch in late 2024 it will likely do more of the same but better and more consistently. Still, we’d like to see a PS5 that didn’t make us choose between 30 FPS with great visuals and 60 FPS with decent visuals, so expect the gap between graphics and performance modes to narrow further.

In our last reader review, we asked which other PlayStation series deserved the HBO treatment of The Last of Us.

SwinnyUK agreed with our belief that a Bloodborne series would make for great series writing:

Bloodborne, a different hunting night, with a new group of hunters… might be interesting. However, I don’t know how it could work. The game is open to interpretation and FromSoft refuses to make any official statements about the story. A show would most likely require Miyazaki to write it himself to protect his integrity, or they would have to give the canonical answer to the story, destroying the game’s lore community, so I doubt that will happen. Although I would absolutely love a show as dedicated to its mystery as Bloodborne. You know, there are things about Bloodborne that Miyazaki kept secret even from his staff, haha… you can see why, so it’s not something anyone can do.
