Sony has announced that it will add accessibility tags to PS Shop on PS5 later this week. Tags will allow developers to describe the accessibility features of their games in PlayStation Store game hubs.
Once players have entered the PS5 PlayStation Store game hubs, they can press the triangle button to view the accessibility tags attached to that game. Although the tags are only visible in the PS5 store, they can be applied to PS5 and PS4 games and players can compare the different options between the two platforms.
Over 50 different accessibility tags will be displayed on the PS Store, and Sony has given a quick look at what some gamers can expect to see.
- Visual accessibility features such as plain text, large text, color alternatives, audio cues, and directional audio cues.
- audio features like volume controls, mono audio, screen reader, and visual cue alternatives.
- legend and legend options including subtitle size, clear subtitles and large subtitles.
- Control options, including button remapping, joystick sensitivity, and the ability to play without having to press buttons, quickly press buttons, or control movement.
- how to play options, such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified quick events, and game speed.
- online communications options, such as text or voice chat transcription and ping communication.
Beacons will be added to the PS Store later this week, although only a few PlayStation Studios games will support them at launch:

More games will add accessibility tags over the next few weeks and months. This feature is another accessibility improvement that comes with features like the improved screen reader added with the latest PS5 beta, as well as the upcoming Project Leonardo controller.
