This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Pokémon video game series. To celebrate, there were a ton of announcements, from Scarlet & Violet DLC to Pokemon Sleep and more.
The Pokémon Company has released a twenty-five minute presentation to celebrate Pokémon Day, or the anniversary of the release of the first Pokémon games. The announcement revealed plans for Scarlet and Violet DLC, as well as updates to several other Pokémon titles, as well as an announcement about Pokémon Sleep. Starting with Scarlet & Violet content, Two new Pokémon Paradox will start appearing in Tera Raids today. They are paradoxical versions of Suicine, called Walking Wake, and Virizion, called Iron Leaves. Walking Wake, a Water and Dragon type, is exclusive to Scarlet, while Iron Leaves, a Grass and Psychic type, is exclusive to Violet.
Plus, there’s a lot to look forward to with Scarlet & Violet games. Two waves of downloadable content, called The hidden treasure of zone zeroit is planned to launch later this year. Part one, dubbed The Teal Mask, will be released in fall 2023, while part two, The Indigo Disk, is slated for winter 2023. Each DLC will also bring old Pokémon to newer games like Ninetales and Metagross. Both DLCs are available for pre-order now and will reward early buyers with updated school uniforms and a code for a special Hisuian Zoroark.
Speaking of Pokemon Hisuian, Scarlet & Violet’s connection to Pokemon HOME, which is expected to bring Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Arceus to new games, doesn’t yet have a release date other than “early 2023”. However, it is now possible to catch various regional models of Vivillon in Scarlet & Violet by importing postcards from Pokemon GO.
Additionally, today’s presentation finally revealed new information about Pokemon Sleep, a mobile game announced in 2019. The game tracks the user’s sleep to study the sleep patterns of various Pokemon. According to the announcement, the user’s dream style will match certain Pokemoneventually unlock all kinds.
Paldean newbies will also come to Pokémon Cafe Mix, and Pokémon Sword’s Legendary Pokémon, Zacian, will appear in Pokémon Unite. The presentation also revealed plans for a new Netflix show called Pokemon Janitor which appears to use a stop-motion animation style.
