The Persona developer is working on ways to bring the series to a “wider audience”.

That’s according to Persona Series Creative Director and Producer Kazuhisa Wada, speaking in a new interview with Sega Asia (Opens in a new tab) (and translated by Persona Central (Opens in a new tab)). “We’re working on different ways to bring the Persona series to a wider audience,” Wada said when asked what the future holds for the franchise. “I can’t say anything specific at this time, but look forward to it.”

For those who follow what’s happening around Atlus, you might recall that the studio previously promised to reveal “several” new projects this year. One of them, the Persona 5 spin-off The Phantom X, was revealed today, but there are still plenty of projects in the works at Atlus.

Whatever those remaining unannounced projects may be, they could focus on getting the series out to the “wider audience” mentioned by Wada. Given that Persona 3, 4, and 5 have just been released on the PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms for the first time in the past six months, it’s a bit difficult to figure out where that “audience” really is. wider”.

Don’t expect any new genre games for the Persona franchise, either. Wada mentions that the studio has “already created” all the new Persona-genre games it wanted, like rhythm games in Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and pure action titles through Persona 5 Strikers. However, the series’ protagonist touts the action genre as “pretty popular around the world”, which Atlus might come back to later.

Then again, it was revealed last year that Persona 5 might get a live-action adaptation, so maybe that’s our answer for the new audience Atlus wants.

considering Persona 5 accounts for nearly half of the series’ lifetime salesit’s fair to say that the Atlus series has never been more popular.
