What should be the Definitive Edition of the Obsidian title, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, which arrived last March as a native version for current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series), in addition to updating the existing version on PC, but its performance at launch was so dismal that even the developers themselves apologized and promised to fix their issues with a series of post-launch fixes. And today we received a very important one.
There update 1.2 of The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition features significant performance improvements in the aforementioned versions, especially those on consoles. Here are the hot patch notes from the oven, so be sure to download them before playing again.

Performance:
- Dynamic resolution has been replaced by FSR and an option switcher has been added on PC.
- Frame rate improvements on all platforms
- Various improvements to reduce stuck issues on all platforms.
- DirectX 12 mapping specific improvements to fix crashes on PC.
- Fixed auto-detection of settings on PC
- Fixed various flickering issues.
- Optimized graphics settings on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S
- Optimized visual effects during combat to deal with framerate drops.
Stability:
- Fixed occasional crash when detecting graphics settings on PC.
General improvements:
- Various bugs fixed
- Fixed a bug that required accepting the EULA after each launch.
- Updated materials and textures to remove visible seams and improve overall look.
- Lighting improvements
- Fixed an issue with excessive shadows spawning in Roseway.
- Fixed crosshairs disappearing when changing settings during gameplay.
- Fixed floating grass on Monarch.
- LOD improvements to reduce popping.
The development team also thanked players for their commitment to reporting bugs in the game and promised to continue working on it until it’s the release it was always meant to be.
