Atomic Hearts has two different endings. You can choose to play either at some point late in the game, although only one of the endings is the true ending as intended by the game developers.

In the real or good ending, you fix things by realizing how Sechenov played you and you put him down. The other ending, usually called the bad ending, is short and not worth playing.

If you want to know more about Atomic Heart endings and how to get them, then you’ve come to the right place.

Atomic Core Purposes Explained

The two endings of Atomic Heart start from a single common point in the story. You’ll have to choose which ending you want to follow just before the boss fights the twins.

This specific story point comes right after escaping the Aftermath Academy archives. When P-3 wakes up after killing Dr. Filatova in her blackout, he finds Granny Zina.

Grandma Zina explains that she is your stepmother, and with the help of Charles, she will persuade you to put a stop to Sechenov’s evil plans. They want you to stop Sechenov before he launches the Atomic Heart and takes over the world.

Right after that, you’ll be faced with the final choices to decide the fate of the world in Atomic Hearts.

  • “I don’t put my finger on Sechenov. I’m outside. I’ve had enough of this game.
  • “Anyway, ma’am…why don’t you show me what’s in your arsenal?”

If you agree with his plans, you will need to kill Sechenov to unlock the good (best) ending of Atomic Heart.

However, if you side with Sechenov, you will avoid all conflicts and unlock the bad ending.

What happens if you decide to leave Atomic Heart?

choose to move away of combat will advance the game with the leave the end. In this ending, P-3 decides to stay neutral and avoid conflict, allowing Sechenov to continue with his plans.

The game will end right after you make the decision to leave. P-3 will rip the Kolletiv knot from under his polymer glove and a short scene will begin, followed shortly by the credits.

Later you can select the Back to installation 3826 menu option to return to the game or reload the save point where you were faced with the options and proceed to the true ending.

What happens if you choose to fight in Atomic Heart?

choose to keep fighting will advance the game with the fight Sechenov END. In this ending, P-3 decides to go after Sechenov and sabotage his plans to launch the Atomic Heart.

This ending also involves a boss fight with the two dancing twins. It’s a tough fight, so you have some time to prepare. You start at the save point and vending machine where you can stock up on gear and prepare for the fight ahead.

Once you’re ready, you can take on Sechenov by ziplining to Chelomey and traveling to the old facility. Upon entering through the large doors, a boss fight with Left, one of the twins, will begin.

It’s going to be a tough fight, but once you defeat her, you can interact with her in the center of the arena to trigger a cutscene. Once you’re done, head to the elevator to go upstairs.

Now you will head inside the elevator at the opposite end of the area to go upstairs.

Upon entering the floor, you will have time to restock. Once done, you’ll walk through the doors to trigger another scene. You’ll see Sechenov setting up the twins to target you, starting another boss fight.

After taking out the twins, you’ll end up shooting Dr. Sechenov and get the true ending in the Atomic Core. In the end, she will learn that Charles is behind everything terrible happening.

You will also learn that Charles wants humans to realize that they have no future. The credits will play once the scene is over.
