Although it may initially look like Wizard gear, the Magecap is a Food-type item in Valheim that Adventurers will need to obtain and replenish their Eitr. For those unfamiliar, Eitr is a character stat that serves as a “mana-style” attribute, allowing players to wield magic weapons. Just as a Norse traveler shouldn’t explore Valheim without a full stomach, his ember staff or frost staff are of no use unless the Eitr is flowing through his body. Therefore, to get Magecaps, you will need to venture into the dangerous endgame biome of Mistlands.

If you open your in-game map, you can locate Mistlands by hovering your mouse over biomes with a dark purple tint and flecks of grayish purple across their landscapes. As the name suggests, the Mistlands are shrouded in thick mist that can only be explored with a Wisplight, a firefly-like creature that can dispel the mist surrounding your location. To get a Wisp Fire, you need to craft a Wisp Source using Silver Ore and Torn Spirit, a material dropped by Yagluth, the Plains Leader. Once you have a Wisp and suitable armor, you should be ready to search for Magecaps in the Mistlands in Valheim.

Much like Carrot Seed Plants or Mushrooms, Valheim Magecaps spawn in random locations throughout the Mistlands. As a result, they can be easy or hard to find, depending on their biome’s RNG. They appear as shiny bluish mushroom-style plants with three harvestable stems. Once collected, you can use a Cultivator to grow Magecaps in the Mistlands like you would barley or carrots. Consuming Magecaps directly will provide you with a small amount of Eitr regeneration. However, you can improve its base effects by cooking the resource recipes: Stuffed Mushrooms, Mead Base for Lesser Eitr, and Seeker Jelly.
