At first octopathic traveler 2, choosing your first character is easy, but it may leave you wondering how to get a new one or switch to a different story. The game doesn’t explain it right away, so it might be a bit confusing. However, the sequel works exactly the same as the original. Once you want to add to your list or take another path, you need to head to a town where someone else is nearby. The prompts will let you choose to start someone’s story chapter when they enter a town, if applicable. Also, if you missed some story segments or want to change groups, you can go to any hostel in any city to change groups or watch another story.
Take Throne as an example. After completing the first chapter of her story in New Delsta, you gain access to the world map. Chapter two of his story takes place in Winterbloom and has a recommended level of 16. If you look at the map, you’ll see that Temenos is just northeast of Flamechurch. If you go there and talk to him, you can complete his chapter one, unlock him, and add him to the party. From there, Osvald is northwest above into the Southern Cape Cold Snows Winterlands. You can also head south and detour through Ochette’s story to the Beast Village of Toto’haha to the southwest, though this will take you away from Throne’s next destination.
Tell him to send Throne to Flamechurch. Immediately after entering the city, a story scene will trigger with an insurgent calling for a cleric. Temenos will then appear and ask if the active player character will offer help. Saying yes launches its prequel and adds you to the party. Once Temenos’ introduction is complete, you have both characters on your roster.
As for how to change your party characters or stories in octopathic traveler 2, which involves a visit to a village. If you go to a tavern, you can change groups. This allows you to swap active allies with inactive characters. If there are chapters you haven’t seen or additional stories in a town, you can watch them there as well.
octopathic traveler 2 is available for Switch, PS4, PS5 and PC. A demo is available.
