How to Unlock Required Biomes for Amethyst

As mentioned, Amethyst is much rarer than most gems in the Disney Dreamlight Vallet and can only be found in two of the world’s biomes. You can mine this gem from Frosted Heights or Forgotten Lands. This is an important gem to find as the Amethyst gemstone is needed to unlock Olaf as part of the Friendship Festival update. Plus, you can always sell them for a nice profit if you need some extra pocket money.
In order to collect amethyst and complete Olaf’s quest, you must ensure that one or both biomes are unlocked. You will need to spend 10,000 Dreamlight to unlock Frosted Heights and 15,000 to unlock Forgotten Lands. Both biomes have other biomes ahead of them in progression order, so you may need to progress through other biomes before you can unlock them, depending on your distance in Dreamlight Valley. You can tell exactly how far you need to go by opening your map and looking around.
Once you’ve unlocked both of these locations, you’ll want to bring a level two mining character with you as a companion to help you mine these two biomes. Note that the Friendship Festival update also introduced training manuals, which allow you to switch roles for your partner. If you need to make a change, be sure to use this feature. Once you have a level two miner as a partner, you will collect a lot more gems and level up faster too.
