In octopathic traveler 2, each main character is able to equip main and sub job. However, you cannot choose one right away. The extra class requires you to first visit certain locations in the world to obtain a license. However, once you’ve done that, you can add this extra work as a character’s side job.
We will use the Scholar child job as an example in octopathic traveler 2. This is Osvald’s main job. However, in the upper left corner of the Western Winterbloom Snows map, you can find the building that grants the license for the Scholar side job. Once you get this, a character that is in the party and doesn’t have this main job can equip it as a bonus job.
So if this is given to Temenos, who is normally a cleric, he will get this role and his abilities. You can then allocate the Job Points you have earned to your primary role or additional role. These additional skills from this side job will become available to the person when this role is also equipped. However, the support skills you get as a bonus for learning job skills are retained and are present even when the job you got them from is not equipped.
