You will need a lot of materials to upgrade your characters and weapons in Genshin Impact. Where to find the Chaos Device in Genshin Impact
Chaos Device drops as loot by killing Humanoid Ruin Wardens. They are Elite level enemies, so you have to be ready for a fight when you challenge them. There are three types that you are likely to come across if you search for Chaos Device: Ruins Sorter, ruin guardthere ruin hunter. Luckily, you can find them all over Teyvat, with some places in each region having more nearby, making them better for farming.
Farming for Chaos Device in Mondstadt

There are two areas in Mondstadt where you can find Ruin Guardians. There are a few patrolling near Stormterror’s Lair and Brightwater Canyon in the western part of the region. You can also find another group spaced out between Stormbearer Point and Starsnatch Cliff to the east. However, these will take a bit of a walk between them.
Farming for Chaos Device in Liyue

Liyue represents some of the best farming sites for Chaos Device. Outside of the Dunyu Ruins, there is a decent concentration of Ruin Guardians that a strong group can handle. Similarly, the Guyun Stone Forest Archipelago is also another location with a good concentration of enemies. And finally, if you travel north from Cuijue Slope to Bishui Plain, you’ll be able to pick up a lot more Ruin Guardians one after another.
Cultivate for the Chaos Device in Inazuma

In the Inazuma Islands, there is only one place with Ruin Guardians around it. You can find them in Araumi, in the northern part of Narukami Island.
Farming for Chaos Device in Sumeru

Sumeru has a large but scattered population of Ruin Guardians. However, the best place to grow them is around the Dahri Ruins, where there is a better concentration of them. Alternatively, there are plenty around the base of Mount Damavand, but be aware that the route can be quite expensive in terms of time investment. Still, if you go this route, there are about a dozen Guardians to kill for loot, so it might be worth it.
What is the Chaos Device for in Genshin Impact?
You will need to collect chaos devices to upgrade many weapons in Genshin Impact. There are 21 weapons in total that require it, varying across all rarities. Notably, this also includes five 5-star weapons, as well as ten 4-star weapons. These are:
