Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse today announced the release of the 3.6 Genshin Impact “The Great Scholarship Ceremony” April 12. This update will bring the first school contest and expand to a new adventure-filled area in Sumeru, as well as the arrival of two playable characters: Baizhu and Kaveh.
Organized by the Sumeru Academy, the school competition offers visitors a great opportunity to learn more about the most prestigious academic institution in all of Teyvat and the different wisdoms pursued by its six schools. The big party is about to welcome players with two big parties, the Academy Fair and the Interscholastic Championship. At the Academy Fair, booths will be set up and there will be six different mini-games, each designed by one of the six schools to showcase their investigative approach and accomplishments. For example, Laila’s School of Illumination applies the study of stars to an astrolabe game, and players can control the astrolabe to form a special pattern and illuminate the stars. The Tech School booth will feature a tricky game on how to perfect road construction with as few materials as possible based on your knowledge of technology and architecture. In addition to the celebrations, representatives from all six schools will compete for first place in the Interscholastic Championship. Laila’s Gathering will also be revealed in Patch 3.6.
Beyond the great festival of Sumeru, a new zone made of wastelands and oasis of flowers is revealed in the depths of the desert. This area has been heavily weathered by ash crystals and a corrupting purple mist. Legends say it was one of the main battlefields of the Khaenri’ah disaster 500 years ago. Fortunately, the travelers will have the help of pari, special creatures of the oasis, during their adventure. They will borrow their ability to fly and reach certain areas inaccessible on foot and discover secrets.
Meanwhile, dangers arise as the territory expands. Apep, the Plant Dragon, and once ruler of Sumeru, now becomes a powerful weekly boss in the Crusade realm. More information about this legendary dragon and the history of Sumeru can be found in Nahida’s legendary quest “Sapientia Oromasdis, Act II”. During this time, more menacing enemies will appear, including the Sacrilegious Baptist, this version’s new boss, and the Hilichurl family will be expanded with two new members, the Wandering Hilichurl Anemo and the Wandering Hilichurl Hydro.
The new update will also bring two new playable characters Baizhu and Kaveh who are very famous in their specialties. Wielding a five-star catalyst, Baizhu is a benevolent medic with the power of Dendro, able to drive away wandering spirits and raise an unbroken shield to heal the team. Your legendary quest “Lagenaria” will shed light on the anecdotes of Baizhu, the owner of Bubu Pharmacy. Another new playable character is Kaveh, a four-star Dendro sword wielder. Known as Light of Technology School, he is a talented and famous architect in Sumeru. His architect’s toolkit, called Mehrak, can detonate all Dendro Cores by scanning the battlefield and can further improve Kaveh’s combat effectiveness by dealing Dendro damage. In 3.6, Nahida and Nilou will return in the first half of the gachapon event, and in the second half, Baizhu and Kaveh will debut, and Ganyu will return.
