Shortly after Ghostcrawler announced his departure from Riot GamesWe already know a little more about his future. Today, Ghostcrawler himself told us about his plans for the future from his social media.

In principle, he decided to return to Texas to spend more time with his family, after the tragic events they have experienced in recent years. He intends to found a studio that will mostly work remotely on creating a new MMO or “something very MMO”. Right now they are looking for people with a lot of experience to lead the development team and later they will come in to hire more employees.

They already have funding and hope to announce the name of the studio soon.

Below you have the original message and the translation.

News.

I am starting a new journey in more ways than one.

As I have already shared with all of you, the past year has been quite brutal for me personally. After 15 years in California, I am returning to Texas to be closer to my family. I feel like I’m retiring from the video game industry, but far from it!

The last few years have made me think a lot about my future and what I want to accomplish. They made me think about the kind of games I want to make as defining milestones in my career: I want to make games that I’m really passionate about and that gamers love. They also made me think about the effectiveness of remote work and how it can help me be closer to my family.

This is why I am pleased to announce that I will be opening my own remote studio. Our goal is to go fast and think big. Fortunately, I found an excellent strategic partner aligned with this vision, and we are moving forward!

And yes, it will be an MMO or something very close to an MMO!

We’re not ready to share the new studio name or game details. Still. On the contrary, the purpose of this message is that we are always looking for elite people to complete our group of adventurers. We’ll be hiring less experienced developers later (and yes, some inexperienced ones), but for now we’re looking for leaders with serious industry experience. Hit me up on Twitter or LinkedIn if that’s you.

If you know me, I value trust, empathy, and open communication, and that goes for the development team as well as the players.

And what is more important, the players will decide if we win or lose. Things will be quiet for a while while the adventure party gets ready, but we plan to share what we’re up to soon and often. We want to excite you, hear your feedback and give you a chance to correct our mistakes. Personally, I think that’s the only way to make great games.
