2K Games announced significant changes to its study Firaxis Games. From today, the head of operations Heather Hazen was appointed study leader following the departure of the current study leader, Steve Martin. Hazen has more than 20 years of experience in the sector and will now lead the development teams of Firaxis Games, which, in addition to continuing to support Marvel’s Midnight Suns (whose new expansion is fast approaching), announced that is already in progress next main installment in the Civilization series.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue the studio’s legacy, beginning with the announcement that Firaxis is developing the next installment in the legendary Civilization franchise,” said Hazen. “I am fortunate to work with some of the best developers in the industry and we intend to take the Civilization franchise to exciting new heights for our millions of players around the world. Additionally, we will continue to supporting Marvel’s Midnight Suns with its post-launch content and exploring new creative projects for our teams.”
On another side, James Solomon, former creative director of the XCOM franchise and Marvel’s Midnight Suns, will also leave the studio after twenty years with him.
For the moment, we do not know more details on the development of this Civilization VII, but we hope to have news in the coming months.
