What is a pavis in Dark and Daker?
A cobblestone is a giant shield. In the world of Dark and Darker, it’s held with two hands and dims most of the player’s screen. provides exquisite protection but does not allow you to attack, so it is only of limited use. However, if used correctly, it can be a deadly tool. Pavise does not need constant maintenance. you can extend it and place it in a strategic place.
Play only with cobblestone in Dark and Darker; Troll exploit explained
Please do not use it when playing alone. – As already mentioned, cobblestones are two-handed. This means that the the wearer cannot attack. If you’re playing solo, there are definitely better alternate weapon sets out there. However, that doesn’t mean it has no “solo” value. For example, it is useful to block some bosses. It can also be used to block passages.

This tactic was based on being able to get on the torch through the cobblestones and attack the enemy from a safe place with a bow. However, the latest update has improved the way Cave Troll works, and from fan reports it’s clear that this method is no longer as effective as before.
How to use the pad in Dark and Darker
The cobblestone is quite an effective tool when used in a team. Its advantages are:
- block the passages – if you deploy the cobblestones at the exit of a low tunnel, it will cover it. This allows you to secure the room for your team, for example, when you want to collect loot or rest.
- block enemies – if the character holding the pad is in a narrow passage, it will become a barricade that is difficult to cross. If there is a cleric positioned behind them and healing, the wall may hold for some time. This will allow the rest of the team to prepare for a skirmish.
- arrow protection – There are many ranged opponents in Dark and Darker. Its projectiles can be effectively blocked by the person carrying the cobblestones.
- Withdrawal – If you find yourself in a place where you don’t want to be, the cobblestone person is ideal to cover your retirement. This will allow you to retire to a more convenient position.
