Destiny 2’s legendary difficulty just got a whole lot easier, according to recent updates from Bungie. The changes are in response to feedback from players who suggested the FPS game’s decision to make content more difficult for its Lightfall expansion went too far, making certain activities extremely difficult or, in one case, nearly impossible when playing with it. a Destiny 2. team.

“We’ve been listening to community feedback on global difficulty since the release of Lightfall, and we have some changes in today’s update and future updates that alter some experiences,” reads the post from blog, part of the weekly Lightfall development team. This Week in the Bungie Series (TWAB). “In today’s update, we lowered the enemy Legend and Master HP scalars for non-boss units, which we thought was a bit higher than we liked:

  • Reduced enemy HP scalar by 10% in all legend and masterwork activities other than raids/dungeons.
  • Reduced co-op enemy HP scalar by 33% in Legendary Avalon on a full team. »

These are welcome changes, as the game’s legendary difficulty was frustrating for Destiny 2 Guardians of all skill levels, from casual to hardcore gamers.

It’s worth noting that Bungie specifically addressed the game’s quest Avalon, which is part of Destiny 2’s Vexcalibur Exotic Glaive quest, and its difficulty scaling. While many people found the base mission difficulty challenging enough, others noted that playing on Legendary difficulty with a full squad made the experience quite strenuous. Apparently, Bungie agreed, as it reduced the Legendary Mission’s scaling damage by a third.

Players who have completed the game’s other activities on Legendary difficulty will surely be frustrated to learn that they could have saved themselves some pain and effort while waiting for Bungie to implement today’s hotfix. Either way, the change is likely to improve the overall health of the game.

Often when Bungie makes decisions on things like difficulty scaling, they do so by looking at not just player feedback on forums like Reddit, but also player data. So it’s possible that the changes aren’t just in response to voice feedback, but also a lot of people leaving these activities trying to do them on Legendary difficulty or simply choosing not to play them in the first place.

These questions about difficulty affect players’ experiences with the game’s expansion, which has also been criticized for its perceived weak plot and for not answering questions about a mysterious object called The Veil in Destiny 2 Lightfall. Metacritical ratings for cross-platform expansion range from 66-70%.

TWAB also notes that the game has again adjusted its Destiny 2 Commendation. Bungie reduced Hawthorne Weekly Challenge commendation goal from 20 to 5, removed goals that required players to give commendation to get ranks Guardian Ranks 7, 8, and 9, and reduced the commendations for Ranks 7, 8, and 9 to 100, 250, and 500 respectively.

Over at TWAB, Senior Design Lead Chris Proctor also shared a preview of the upcoming weapon balancing changes. These changes will affect PvE primaries to make it easier to take down red bar enemies on Legendary and Heroic difficulty. Many players feel that the primaries have been weak overall for some time. The changes primarily affect Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Hand Cannons, Handguns, and Scout Rifles.

The team will also be tuning Aggressive Frame SMGs, Fusion Rifles, Trace Rifles, and Sniper Rifles. The final weapon Final Warning will no longer be able to track targets through barricades, and the team is also making adjustments to Tarrabah and Review Zero.

In particular, Bungie will be introducing crosshair changes starting in Season 21. TWAB has offered a preview video of what to expect.

These upcoming changes are expected to affect many weapons, including several weapons from the Destiny 2 Lightfall Exotics roster. Head over to our guide on how to get the best new weapons in the multiplayer game, as Destiny 2 Season 20 quickly approaches its halfway point.
